Piano Tuning

With 40 years experience of tuning pianos in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire, Syson Pianos are the first choice of many theatres, concert halls, schools, churches and private houses. Our friendly and professional service has gained recognition throughout the area, with clients returning confident in the quality provided.

It is recemmended to have your piano tuned or pitch adjusted regularly, I recommend that older pianos be tuned every six months. For newer pianos with modern design and materials once a year is ok. Many pianos that I work on require regulation work. This is often overlooked. Regulation can be affected by changes in humidity as tuning can.
Syson Pianos offer a piano tuning reminder service to help you keep up with the care of your piano.

Syson Pianos offer honest and expert advice on how best to care for your piano, and will advise of the best course of action should your piano develop a fault.

Tuning takes approximately one hour and I do not employ any other tuners so any appointment made will be carried out by myself.

I am a Member of the Pianoforte Tuners' Association and an Accredited Member of the Institute of Musical Instrument Technology. I am in regular contact with tuners working in the UK and around the world.

As a PTA member I have Public Liability Insurance of £5 Million.

Organ Tuning

In 1975 I started working on Pipe Organs. Although much of our work is on Pianos, we still continue to tune and repair organs in Staffordshire and Cheshire & beyond

Many Organs in the UK have had extensive tonal alteration done over the years. This is unfortunate, firstly because it is very expensive and also compromises have had to be made to the original design of the organ.

We endeavour to maintain an Organ in as good a playing order as possible and in tune. We no longer undertake major repair, rebuilding, Organ building work, but we are very pleased to give advice on companies that do undertake this work.

We are pleased to carry out tuning on a regular or one off basis:

- Pitch setting and using Historic Temperaments

- Cone Tuning & Tuning Slides
